When we are able to find quiet, to lower the volume of the chatter that constantly flows through all of our minds, we have the opportunity to experience an extraordinary peace. The practice of yoga begins the journey towards this possibility. I believe that the physical surroundings in which one practices sets the stage for this to happen. We created Heart of the Village Yoga with this priority. Our studio is a beautiful and peaceful place to be. The warm colors, magnificent bamboo floor and exquisite views of the changing light and seasons of the Vermont landscape create a wonderful space. A place where one’s body, mind and spirit can rest and relax. Where we can explore the simple, yet powerful, rhythm of our breath as it guides us towards stillness.
Heart of the Village Yoga seeks to offer each person his or her unique practice. I believe that the true yogi is the person who can come to class and with their own intuitiveness choose to sit or lie quietly even as the instructor leads the others in the room through a series of movements and poses. To be able to hear the requests and needs of one’s own inner voice and recognize that there are a multitude of benefits that come from just BEING at Heart of the Village Yoga.
