Increase flexibility, balance and strength through practicing a dynamic series of postures, controlled breathing, and mindfulness. These classes enhance conditioning, improve cardiovascular health, and may even reduce the likelihood of injury.
You will become stronger, which will reduce the likelihood of off-balanced falls. You will become more flexible, which will allow you to relax and recover if you slip and fall. You will learn to be more focused, which will enhance your ability to perform, pay attention, and enjoy your skiing and riding movements better. And, with a regular practice on your on-the-mountain days, you may even avoid sore muscles!
The definition of yoga is to still the mind. This practice teaches you to pay attention and be here, now. Enjoy the moment. Isn’t that what skiing and riding is all about, too?
Bob Speck, a Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Functional Strength Coach, and Certified Professional Ski and Snowboard Instructor will teach the course. Bob is a former regional ski clinician and trainer; he currently trains instructors and coaches Special Olympics athletes at Ability Plus at Mount Snow.
Yoga for Skiers & Riders is offered Mondays: 6:00 – 7:15pm: January 4, 11, 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 March 7, 14, 21, 28 Advance Registration: $144. Ability Level: Beginners are welcome. Drop-ins are welcome: $15/class; included in month-long memberships; class cards eligible.
