The So Hum meditation is a simple but powerful technique that uses the breath and the repetition of a mantra to quiet the mind and relax the body. This meditation will help take your awareness from a state of constriction to a state of expanded consciousness.
Most of us think of yoga as a physical practice. However, in addition to focusing on a physical practice to improve the body, yoga addresses all aspects of our being and our lives. We will study the definition of yoga as written in the greatest classical text from the yoga school of Indian philosophy, the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali, written in the second century BC.
In the Yoga Sutra, Patanjali described the eight aspects of a Yogic Lifestyle and called it the Eight Limbs of Yoga. The limbs work together and are practical guides on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life.
The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. Each of the seven main chakras contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being. Since everything is moving, it’s essential that our seven main chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid.
