Art & Yoga Retreat in Tuscany

with Anharad Llewelyn and Jo Kirsch

August 21-28, 2026

From $2,435 per person

Join Jo and Anharad for a lovely week in the beautiful landscape of Tuscany, Italy. Its awe-inspiring landscape, artistic heritage, and famous villages and cities boast infinite beauty, art and culture. Our home for the week is an 1100 acre organic farm, Tenuta di Spannocchia, located on a nature reserve in the hills of Tuscany. Discover medieval villages and castles, indulge in local wine, cheese, olive oil and other food traditions. Or simply settle in with a paint brush, journal or book, and let the Tuscan landscape awaken your creativity. Practice yoga in the midst of thousands of years of art and culture, nature and nourishment, and let yoga and art in Tuscany take your breath away.

Enjoy a daily art lesson as we embrace the beauty surrounding us. Just as in yoga, art is a practice. All levels are welcome! Participants will be supplied with a visual art journal, a watercolor set, and a variety of drawing, printmaking, and collage materials. More experienced artists are encouraged to bring their own art supplies (example: French easel and oil paints, acrylics, canvas). The landscape is rich with history and breathtaking vistas. For centuries this magical place has inspired artists to capture the beauty and document their experience. Participants will find the practice of daily yoga and visual art journaling in this Tuscan retreat a healing combination which will propel their self-growth, gratitude and sense of joy.

The retreat includes: 7 nights lodging; 3 organic, delicious Tuscan meals daily – including a four-course dinner served nightly at 7:30 PM, with wine served on the terrace at 7PM; meditation and yoga in the morning and afternoon; a daily art lesson with skill development, guidance, and encouragement provided throughout your stay; an art supply kit to capture the experience in a personalized visual art journal; day trips to the medieval towns of San Gimignano and Sienna, and a variety of optional excursions to nearby thermal baths, gardens, sculpture parks, and wineries depending on group interest; and roundtrip transportation from Florence to Spannocchia.

Time on the farm may be spent walking through the gardens, relaxing and enjoying the warmth of the southern exposure and picturesque view, creating art on the property, lounging by the swimming pool or participating in the many activities offered at Tenuta di Spannocchia. Optional activities on the farm include: a Castello Tour, Traditional Cooking Classes, an Olive Oil Tour and Tasting, Tastes and Techniques of Italian Wine Production, a Vegetable Garden Tour, Italian Lessons, bike riding (nearby bike rentals) and more. Additional fees will apply for these optional activities should you choose to participate.

Our accommodations  are located in the main compound in the center of the Spannocchia property. Each room has its own character and is furnished with original furniture. Please note that the rooms are solely accessible by old, relatively steep staircases, which may be challenging for participants with reduced mobility. Each bedroom has a private bathroom (with a mix of en suite and external).

Meet Anharad Llewelyn

Growing up in a family of artists, Anharad has been creating artwork and delving into art history since she was a child. For the last 20 years Anharad has been a high school art teacher in the Manchester area, but now enters a new chapter of teaching and learning. She will be retiring from teaching school and is embarking on destination art retreats, as well as continuing to teach adults and curious artists of all levels in the Northshire region. Anharad has a passion for igniting creativity in people of all ages and experience levels; encouraging them to find JOY through the art of self-expression.

Anharad is an art journal enthusiast, and she enjoys painting with watercolor, acrylics, water based oil, and mixed media. The medium of collage painting combines acrylic paint and a variety of patterned papers. She often uses hand written letters and pages from recycled books to enhance her mixed media paintings, adding another element of her personality into the work.

In addition to teaching and creating art, Anharad enjoys travel, yoga, hiking, x-country skiing, kayaking, and taking as many art classes as she can to expand her own practice.
